Your Co-op
Your Co-op is owned collectively by its members, a group of local people
like you with similar interests and needs. They make the decisions they feel
will best serve their community and their store. But a co-op is more than a
group of people who get together to meet their needs. Co-ops rely on
Co-operative Principles and Values to guide their business and operating
decisions. Co-operatives are based on the values of self-help,
self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity. In the
tradition of their founders, co-operative members believe in the ethical
values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
When you become a member of your Co-op, you enjoy many benefits such as
control in building a stronger community, the opportunity to serve on the
Board of Directors or on committees and the money you spend at your co-op
stays in your community to be re-circulated for the benefit of all.
